Drawing cartoony and beautified portraits is now one of my specialties... if I get to draw eveyone else, why not myself?

THIS PAGE IS OUTDATED! It has not been updated since 2005. This area of my website will likely either be taken down or replaced by 2010. I only keep this here because it is indexed on Google and other search engines with the names of old friends of mine that I enjoy hearing from.

Welcome to my "About Me" web section (really just one page). Click a "tab" above to get the info you want.

You are likely to find what you were searching for in the friends section of this page.

This page should take a moment to load.
It should look like the image to the left when ready. The tabs should be highlighted when the mouse is over them.
If you are having trouble viewing this page (like if the tabs don't work) I recommend you download the latest version of IE.

the basics

I put together this "basic" info about myself. Obviously I am pretty open to share anything anyone cares to know about me.

Glen's Stats (if you care):
  • Born: 18 May 1981
  • Birthplace: Redbank, New Jersey. USA.
  • Height: 5' 11"
  • Weight: 175 lbs.
  • Eye Color: A dark brown.
  • Hair Color: A duller, darker brown.
  • Means of transportation: A bicycle

Professional Information: Get more professional info
  • I have been a computer programmer since the summer of 1994 (COBOL Programmer, Frito Lay)
  • I started my career as an illustrator in 1994 (Illustrator, SandBass Phonics)
  • I started my career as a graphic designer in 1995 (Clipartist and Brochure Manager, Stork Embroidery)
  • Probably my first "legal" employment was at Fujitsu Network Communications as a Clipartist/intern (summer of 1997)

Strange or Perhaps Interesting Information:
  • I am the oldest of 8 children.
  • I played the drums for 8 years. I used to play trumpet. I play a little guitar now.
  • Although a verified computer nerd, I grew up on a "farm" in Texas with cows, horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals.
  • I lived 2 years in one of the largest (most compact) cities in the world São Paulo, Brasil.
  • Although I don't like playing computer games, I still enjoy programming them on occassion.
  • I won grand prize in a national art contest entitled "Crest in Space" as an 11-year-old.

Life's Summary:
I am the first child of my parents Mark and Carol. I was born in New Jersey in 1981. I don't remember the place very well. Just certain events and friends. We stayed there about 5 years. My two sisters Marilyn and Lori were there with me. The rest of the siblings were born in Texas. My mom has always been an extremely hard worker and in Texas she co-founded a small catering business. I went to Lovejoy Elementray, Ford and Curtis Middle Schools and Allen High School (which is now just the Lowry Freshmen center). As a kid I tried a lot of things including soccer, basketball, karate, swim team, pottery, and more. I was heavily involved my church's youth and BSA programs. I got my Eagle as a 15-year-old. I always enjoyed and participated in creative passtimes such as art and playing music. As a kid I won a lot of little art contests. I started playing drums at a young age with my guitar-playing father. I started to develop an interest in computers at about age 11 playing scorched earth with my good friend Ryan Stevens. I now am a CS major at BYU. I enjoy programming when it is creative. I never liked doing things such as watching television (I especially do not like sports) and reading fictonal books. I am a member of the LDS faith, otherwise known as "Mormon". From 2000 to 2002 I served a mission whic for my church. After dating more girls than I probably cared to, I met Cindy, who was a neighbor of mine in 2003. Eight and a half months later, we were married.

- John Updike, 1932

Saying: "Great minds think alike. Creative minds think different. The greatest minds are creative."
- Me (and I know it is gramatically incorrect)

friends

NOTICE! This section, like all the others, is very out of date. I will someday delete this whole area of ghbarratt.com, but I keep it here because I like to hear from old friends. Many of you are surprised to find this page when you "google" your name. (It pays to have a lot of websites like I do when you want search engine results.) It seems like there are better ways to make lists of friends (like facebook) than a table like this. If you are featured on this page and would like to be removed please do not hesitate to ask and I will remove you from this list in no time.

A dedication to the people I like a lot.
