I can remember thinking how it is such a shame how many people stop developing their creative talents after a while. I was not sure what causes this and I would sometimes wonder: Was it a wife? a real job? kids? or just time? ... I spend a lot of time on the internet because of my job. I enjoy my job, but I find myself doing more off of the computer in my free time. I have been happily married for many years now. I find my hobbies changing these days as I spend less of my freetime with creative projects. Most of my time goes to my wife; next is my house; and lastly my time is used for personal things which I now lump all my creative projects. I still love to do grapic design and illustration professionally or for freelance, friends, or even a contest, but drawing just for fun has become a rare occassion. I used to love to develop this and my other websites, but with 8 hours of web development a day at work, I find developing my own sites not as amusing. ... I guess I have had a change...

After visiting and considering too many houses to keep count, my wife and I are settling on one to buy now. It is in Taylorsville, UT. We are very excited to do this. Cindy is particularly excited about the house because it was the one she wanted most. (I wanted a different one but I figure she will probably be home more than me and it mattered more to her than me.) I am happy to make this investment and I am very grateful to my parents who have helped us make our dowpayment. The house is only 1450 sq. feet but it is really nice and in a great neighborhood.
After collecting several offers. I decided to commit to Inetz Media Group, a web development company based in the Salt Lake City area. I believe it will be a nice fit for me and I am excited to start working there in January (2008).
Although it really isn't much of an improvement (some may argue that it is a loss) I have decided to change the name of my personal projects "company" (which I hope to someday make an LLC with) from Powersketch Design to Megasketch Design (I might drop the "Design" out of the "company" name). I have recently acquired the domain megasketch.com (at a whopping cost of $10). I figure this is an improvement in some subtle ways than my old domain name powersketchdesign.com. Plus, it gives me the satisfaction of knowing that I would not be tempted to pay off a cybersquatter.
Do you know what cybersquatting is? It is the practice of buying domains with no intent of using them other than to sell them for more money. The ICANN (think of ICANN as the government of the internet) calls buying domains to resell for profit "acquiring [domains] in bad faith." Thank goodness I have no more CS 404 blogs! All the activity going on on this site is happening in the
studio section. I am hosting a coloring contest and am very busy with freelance design and illustration jobs. Its fun.
