About the Tune:
From the beginning, the purpose of this song for me was to make a mix worthy of OCRemix's on-line collection. This was a serious goal of mine I had had for several months. In the early part of 2005 I started playing my old NES system. I wanted to remix a song that had never been done before and I also wanted to remix a game that was relatively untouched by the remixers featured on OCR. I found out that Faxanadu only had one mix on the site and I always like the Dartmoor music…
This area "Dartmoor" is the last area that has a town inhabited by elves. It is a very mysterious cave-like place filled with terrible creatures. The game is no piece of cake and you travel through many places before you reach this area. It was once the great city of the dwarves but they were taken out by the hordes of the "Evil One" who also brought a terrible poison to the place. As you struggle to make it through the terrible labyrinth of the Evil One’s lair you are amazed at the majesty of the Evil Ones reclaimed underground world… enjoy.
With that said. I can now tell you a little about the production. I created this in MadTracker 2 using samples collected from my own recordings and a bunch of sample CDs I purchased off of eBay. This song took me well over 6 months, but part of the struggle was learning to use MadTracker. There are still little quirks and the sound quality did not turn out how I had hoped but I do think it is my best musical composition work to date. This was finished in July 2005.
